I began my journey into the world of Debian approximately 2 years ago ( I’m not very good at remembering dates
) from the start one of my main objectives is to collaborate with the project and not simply be a standard user, the best way to do it is to keep packages (starting from the point that my work is to develop applications and edit code is what I do day to day).
But I never decided to take the plunge and adopt a package, until I decided that was the right time, already had some knowledge of Debian packaging, I had read Debian New Maintainers’ Guide and Debian Developer’s Reference. Unfortunately when I decided to do so and already had everything ready to find a mentor, Debian enters the freezing stage, in this state no packets are uploaded to unstable unless they are to fix a RC bug
So I have to wait until the release of squeeze and some mentor have mercy of my soul and upload packages for me
This is my first step in the process of becoming a Debian Developer, so I hope to share the progress
Cheers!!
Another year goes as fast as it came, for me it’s inevitable to make a balance of what this year’s ending has left me… I can’t say it was a bad year, but I think I missed a lot of things to do, which means that this year that will require more effort to begin to achieve the goals I’ve outlined.
However, I must admit that this year I’m great experiences, so I’ve high expectations for this new year.
Anyway, I hope that this year is full of prosperity, that all the goals we’ve set.
Cheers!!
As we all know has released the new version of the popular manager of blogs, I refer to WordPress 2.7. Someting I was rather surprised how easy it’s update, so I had no major problems.
Great Job!
Cheers!!
After a few days with the idea of making a hacergotchi
I’ve finally finished, I do not have many pictures, so I choose not been a very difficult task, Despite the little knowledge I have in the use of GIMP I think I am acceptable.
anyway, I will continue trying
Cheers!!
After some time of being sick, this day has officially killed my desktop an HP 4443, a fact that I’m not surprised, because the computer had about ten years (too long for a Computer) died the following characteristics: AMD K-6 II 333Mhz, 256MB of RAM and with Debian Etch and Xubuntu 7.10.
So to be my main tool of work (at home) have stalled with the personal projects
but anyway I’m in a campaign to acquire new equipment and thus further delay and not much projects.
Best Regards!!
As I had mentioned earlier on of my goals is to be an active developer and from this day began my journey to become, on of the points that should be improved in order to achieve my goal is to reinforce the knowledge that I have the C language and approach to Linux.
A book I found that I’m currently reading is Foundations of GTK + Development, from what I have read so far it seems to me a book very complete and very easy to understand, without any doubt is what I need
Anyway for me is a good start
This day I have decided to make a total migration to Linux, specifically Xubuntu, Today I’ve been using but retained a partition with Windows XP, because it occasionally used to program applications using Visual Studio and Visual Fox.
So, what has driven me to break away from Windows? To be honest it was a step that I always wanted, but never dared me because I felt that was not ready.
Am I ready now? The truth… No
However, the continued collapse of Windows (blue screen) have made me take this big leap.
As I mentioned earlier I already have about a year-to-use Linux (Debian and Xubuntu) but only at the occasional user and not as the primary operating system. One of my goals is to actively contribute to the future development of Xubuntu maintaining a package, but before that I must reinforce the little knowledge I have in the languages C/C++, Perl, Python …
I hope to publish progress
Cheers!!!
Well, after a couple of days delay to set up the blog, it’s alive. This is my first blog in English, so I hope do it right
More than a personal blog, I want to be a blog where I can translate all my thoughts and ideals, a space to express my ideas and the difficulties I face every day in my work.
Anyway, gradually add new features and more content, for the moment I like the result.
Cheers!!!
